(in total) derived from the use of the Ceylon Tables alone, the black ink figures will never fall below those in red ink. (And similarly) as
to prospective pensions which have become actu- ally payable pensions since the 31/12/1900. The
prosp-active pensions (black and red) will ge
furnished in total only. The prospective pen- sions will be diminishedintotal (according to
the ordinance) in consequence of any reduction
of salary and the reduction thereupon of contribu-
tion.
A hypothetical example will make the matter
clearer.

(1) A man aged x entered the fund with a wife
aged y.
He paid a contribution of Sa on his
salary, and thus secured, according to the former
Tables, a prospective family pension of £b.
(2) at that date, for those ages, and for that
annual contribution, the prospective pension by
the Ceylon Table' would have been £(b + c) or
greater than that given by the old Tables.
3. b years after entry and at the respective
ages of ■ + 5 and y + 5, he received an increase
of salary and then paid upon that increase an
additional yearly contribution of £asecuring at
(1) that date and for those ages, a further pro-
spective pension of £d according to the old
Tables.
